UAB Track & Field Prepares for Outdoor Music City Challenge

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track & Field travels to Nashville for their final regular season meet of 2024 at the Outdoor Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt on April 26-27.
The Blazers came off a successful weekend at the Tiger Track Classic, where the Green and Gold had numerous personal bests and an NCAA Division I Top 100 time.
At the Music City Challenge, UAB is set to compete in 18 events including hurdles, the 100 and 200-meter dash and shot put. The Blazers feature Gabby Washington, who ran on the 4x100m relay team and placed in the Top 100. In addition to Washington, Aniyah Marshall and Synai Jones will also compete in sprints. Marshall will also appear in the 100m hurdles for the Green and Gold.
In distance, Lia Castillo and Lidia Longo will also compete for the Green and Gold, appearing in the 1500m. Castillo finished with a PR performance in the 1500 at Auburn, placing second overall. In the 3000 meters, Anna Behmer, Ava Brooks, and Katie Keur will compete for UAB.
In jumps, Nia Hill, Olivia Beard, and Marshall will all compete in the high jump, while Corinne Ball, Averie Foster, and Loren Johnson will participate in the long jump on Friday afternoon. Ball and Johnson will compete in the triple jump on Saturday.
For throws, Birthe Franck-Petersen and Tia Espinoza will appear for the Blazers. Espinoza will represent UAB in the discus, while Franck-Petersen will throw for the shot put.
