Men’s Basketball Hits the Road to Face ECU

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball will hit the road after a week off to take on East Carolina on Tuesday night in Greenville. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.

SERIES HISTORY
The Blazers lead the all-time series 13-6 over the Pirates, including a 6-1 record at ECU. UAB won last season's matchup by a score of 69-61. The last time the two programs met in Greenville was during the 2012-13 season when the Pirates won 74-61.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers defeated North Texas on Monday, February 3 in a crucial conference matchup by a score of 64-61. Yaxel Lendeborg scored 17 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, had three steals and three assists while Christian Coleman added 13 points and eight rebounds.
WATCHLISTS
Lendeborg was named to multiple award watch lists ahead of the 2024-25 season, including the Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Watch List, the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 Watch List and the Karl Malone Award Watch List. He is the first UAB player to appear on the Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award Watch Lists since Jordan "Jelly" Walker was listed prior to the 2022-23 season. Lendeborg has remained in the national conversation as the season has progressed, earning spots on the Oscar Robertson Award Midseason Watch List and the Karl Malone Award Midseason Top 10 list.
FAST PACED, HIGH POWERED OFFENSE
Tempo has often been a theme of Andy Kennedy's teams, and the 2024-25 roster has continued that. The Blazers rank 67th in the country in tempo while scoring 83.7 points per game, which is tied for 12th nationally. UAB is also second in the nation in fast break points per game with 17.6 per contest. The Blazers have scored 90+ points in eight games this season, their most since the 1990-91 season.
CRASH THE BOARDS
This season, UAB is again among the top rebounding teams in the nation, ranking 17th in the country in rebounds per contest with 40.4. UAB is especially strong on the offensive glass with 14.5 offensive boards per game, which is sixth in the nation. The Blazers grab 38.5 percent of their misses on the offensive end, which is the ninth best rate in the country. Yaxel Lendeborg led the team in rebounding last season with 10.6 per game and is again averaging double figures on the glass. He has grabbed 15 or more rebounds in 12 games as a Blazer, including a 21-rebound game vs. Florida Atlantic which ranks second in program history.
