Blazers Travel to Wake Forest, Georgia Tech This Weekend

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Track & Field is splitting up the team for the second time this Outdoor season this weekend. The Green and Gold cross into ACC territory as some of the team will compete at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, while others will compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta.
THE WAKE FOREST FIELD (FRIDAY ONLY)
Along with the Blazers and Demon Deacons, other competing teams include Alabama, Appalachian State, Auburn, Boston College, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Duke, Florida Atlantic, Georgia, Houston, Indiana, Miami (FL), Mississippi State, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech among others.
THE GEORGIA TECH FIELD (FRIDAY AND SATURDAY)
The Blazers will be competing against teams such as Belmont, Samford, Charleston Southern, Jacksonville State, Troy, Lipscomb, Vanderbilt, Kennesaw State, as well as others.
THE LAST TIME OUT
UAB competed in the Crimson Tide Invitational hosted by Alabama this weekend in Tuscaloosa. In the 400m race, Leticia Quingostas finished with a time of 56.09. That time is tied for the 10th best Outdoor 400m time in school history (Rachel Harley, 2009). Sangie Lincoln-Velez clocked a time of 4:33.12 in the 1500m which is her new personal best. Lincoln-Velez just missed the 10th fastest Outdoor 1500m time in UAB history by less than one second.
