BIRMINGHAM – The UAB volleyball team opens its 2026 home schedule on Sunday, hosting Tulsa at 1 p.m. at the Hoover High School Competition Gym.
Admission is free for all UAB students, Gold Card members and Blazer Buddies members. Single-match tickets are $7 and are available through GoFan. All matchday ticket purchases must be made by card. Parking at Hoover High School is free, and concessions will be available. Doors open one hour prior to first serve.

BACK AT HOME
UAB volleyball returns home for the first time in 2026 on Sunday after opening the season with an extended 15-match road trip. With renovations ongoing at Bartow Arena, the Blazers will play their first six home matches of the season at the Hoover High School Competition Gym, beginning with Sunday's matchup against Tulsa.
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's matchup marks the 21st all-time meeting between UAB and Tulsa, with the Golden Hurricane holding a 17-3 advantage in the series. Tulsa has won the last 14 meetings, including both matchups in 2025.
UAB's last victory over Tulsa came on Oct. 17, 2008, when the Blazers swept the Golden Hurricane, 3-0, at Bartow Arena.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN HURRICANE
Tulsa enters Sunday's matchup with an 11-3 overall record and a perfect 3-0 mark in American Conference play. The Golden Hurricane are hitting .197 as a team while averaging 12.25 kills and 11.27 assists per set.
Tulsa has also been effective from the service line, recording 88 aces through 14 matches for an average of 1.60 aces per set. The Golden Hurricane have received balanced production from several offensive options this season, with five players recording at least 76 kills.
Sophomore middle blocker Jill Hanson leads Tulsa with 130 kills and a .325 hitting percentage, while senior outside hitter Olivia Vance ranks second with 126 kills. Campbell Hague has added 94 kills, followed by Emma Blaine with 77 and Isabella Ocampo with 76.
Hanson has emerged as Tulsa's top all-around threat at the net. The sophomore leads the Golden Hurricane in kills (130), points per set (3.15) and total blocks (60) while hitting .325. Hanson was selected as the American Conference Preseason Player of the Year after earning American Freshman of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors in 2025. She hit .408 last season, setting a Tulsa single-season program record, while averaging 2.32 kills and 1.08 blocks per set.
