TUSCALOOSA – In what was a wire-to-wire victory for the Blazers in SEC country, UAB Baseball took care of business in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday night with an 11-2 win over the Crimson Tide. Tuesday's win was the 15th time this season the Blazers put up 10+ runs. The Green and Gold outhit the Crimson Tide, 11-5.
The Blazer bats got off to a hot start by scoring seven runs in the first inning. After a pop out, eight straight Blazers reached base safely. With the bases full, Brady Waugh blooped a single to left to bring in John Paul Head. Two more runs would score on an Andrew Hunt single, and another pair would cross on an Alex Dupuy single to give the Green and Gold a 5-0 lead. Baylor Roberts executed a perfect sac bunt to bring home Wesley Helms and Dupuy to cap off the 7-run first inning.
John Paul Head would bring in another two runs on a single in the fourth inning. Baylor Roberts and Kevin Hall Jr. would cross the plate to bring the score to 9-0.
By the end of the Green and Gold's fourth frame, all nine starters had scored.
The Crimson Tide offense was silent until the bottom half of the sixth inning. John Lemm ripped his sixth home run of the season for a 2-run shot to cut the UAB lead to 9-2.
The Green and Gold would get those two runs back in their half of the seventh inning. Alex Dupuy doubled home Andrew Hunt all the way from first to plate the Blazers' 10th run of the night. The next batter, Baylor Roberts laid down a perfectly executed safety squeeze bunt to bring home Dupuy to put UAB up, 11-2 through seven innings.
On the night, the Blazers scored four runs on five Alabama errors. The Crimson Tide totaled 11 errors in the two games played against UAB this season.
The score would hold as Brooks House shut down the Alabama offense over the final three innings as he picked up his first career save and the Blazers took down Alabama in Tuscaloosa for the third time in five years.
