HOUSTON (AP) - George Williams scored 16 points and Houston held off a late rally Wednesday to defeat UAB 67-65.
Chad Hendrick hit one of two free throws with eight seconds left to give the Cougars (4-10, 1-1 C-USA) a 67-62 lead. P.J. Arnold countered for UAB (8-6, 1-1) with a 3-pointer with a second left for the final margin.
Houston led 29-27 at the half.
Hendrick finished with 13 points for the Cougars while Dominic Smith had 12 and Patrick Okafor had 11.
Eric Batchelor led UAB with 19 points. LeAndrew Bass added 17 and David Walker added 12.
