3/15/2018 8:35:00 PM | Women's Track & Field
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB track and field team is set to run again this weekend at the Jaguar Classic as the 2018 outdoor season gets underway from South Alabama's Jaguar Track in Mobile, Alabama.
The events get started on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. CT with the Men and Women's Triple Jump as well as several other field events. The action kicks off on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. CT with a continuation of the field events while the track events begin at 11:30 a.m. CT.
UAB is coming off an indoor season that saw it finish 12th at the Conference USA Championships. However, several Blazers put up strong times throughout the indoor season and will be looking to build on that momentum.
From the Coach's Desk
"This is a smaller meet which is typical to get the season started and we are using this weekend to get back into shape after a few weeks off between the end of the indoor season and the beginning of outdoor," head coach Kurt Thomas said. "The indoor season didn't end the way we had hoped but we are getting a few girls back that redshirted indoors and we had a few injuries towards the end of the indoor season but everyone is back and healthy and ready to run."
What to Watch
- Ali Cichos took home a fifth place finish during the indoor conference meet in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.87.
