BIRMINGHAM- The Blazers are searching for their first conference win heading into Saturday night's matchup at Marshall.
UAB (1-6-1, 0-2-1) travels to Huntington, W. Va. after three straight home losses where the Blazers were outscored 8-2. The Blazers currently sit at fifth in the conference and could catapult into the top half of the league with a win. Sophomore Blake White is tied for fifth in the conference in scoring with four goals on the season.
Marshall (7-1-1, 2-0-0) comes into the contest undefeated in C-USA play. The Thundering Herd sit just outside the top 25 rankings receiving several coaches' votes. Redshirt freshman Milo Yosef leads Marshall with five goals on the season while junior Jamil Roberts has tallied two goals and five assists. Goalkeeper Paulo Pita has recorded three shutouts on the season, most recently holding Dayton to no goals on Tuesday night.
"Marshall is having a great year," said head coach Jeff Kinney. "They are athletic and technical and have a tone of confidence. We love the challenge. We are all about getting better every day and competing on the road against a team at the top of our league is just the experience our team needs right now."
The Blazers have dominated the matchup against Marshall owning an 11-4-2 all-time record against the Herd. However, Marshall are 1-0-1 in the last two contests.
UAB will take on Marshall Saturday night at 6 p.m. CST in Huntington, W. Va. at Hoops Family Field. The contest will be available for livestream on CUSA.tv.
