BIRMINGHAM- After a tough loss at Marshall over the weekend the Blazers will hit the road again to face long-time rival Memphis in a Tuesday night non-conference contest at 7 p.m.
UAB (1-7-1) looks for a confidence boosting win after dropping four straight contests. The Blazers boast the advantage in the series, leading the Tigers 20-19-1 all time and have not lost to Memphis since 2016.
Memphis (7-2-0) comes into the matchup having won five straight games. Their last loss came on Sept. 8 in Birmingham when the Tigers fell to Mercer in UAB's Soccer for a Cure Classic. The Tigers are averaging 2.22 goals per game. Memphis is led by forward Sam Ashton who has eight goals on the season, including a hattrick in the Tigers 3-2 defeat of No. 11 Xavier on Sept. 14.
"Rivalry games are always fun because they can go in any direction," said head coach Jeff Kinney. "Memphis is having a great year and they are a talented team. We are looking forward to the challenge of playing them on their home field."
The Blazers will take on Memphis at 7 p.m. at Memphis Track & Soccer Complex. The match will be streamed live on Memphis Tiger Network and live stats will be available to follow.
Men's soccer season tickets are on sale by purchasing the 2019-20 Gold Card for $65.
