BIRMINGHAM- UAB (1-5-1) fell to Georgia Southern (4-3-0) by a score of 3-1 Tuesday night at BBVA Field.
Georgia Southern jumped out to an early lead in the 16th minute after a pass from midfield drew Julian Mehl out of the goal allowing Adam Davies to dribble past him and slot the ball into the back of the net.
Both teams recorded six shots in the first half of play, however, the Eagles went into the locker room with the 1-0 lead.
The second half was all Georgia Southern as the Eagles held UAB to just two shots in the final 45 minutes of play.
In the 57th minute the Eagles would get on the board again when a deflection inside the box allowed Azaad Liadi to put one past Mehl and double the Georgia Southern lead.
Nine minutes later the Eagles would score for a third time on a give-and-go from Davie to Cristian Medina.
The UAB offense could never find its footing recording only three shots on goal in the match. The lone UAB goal came in the 84th minute when a Georgia Southern mistake sent the ball back into the net for an own goal.
The Blazers wrap up a three game homestand on Saturday at 7 p.m. when No. 16 FIU comes to Birmingham for a Conference USA matchup.
