BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team makes its first trip to Cullowhee, N.C. when it faces Western Carolina on Dec. 3 at the Liston B. Ramsey Regional Activity Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. (EST)/1 p.m. (CST).
UAB LATELY
UAB (4-1) is coming off a second place finish at the Goombay Splash in Bimini Bahamas. The Blazers defeated George Mason before falling to #12/13 LSU in the championship game.
WESTERN CAROLINA LATELY
Western Carolina (4-4) is coming off a 68-59 victory over Queens on Dec. 1. The Catamounts are a perfect 3-0 at home this season.
UAB AND WESTERN CAROLINA HISTORY
Saturday afternoon marks the first meeting between UAB and WCU since Dec. 20, 1997 when they met in the first round of the Lady Blazers Classic. Regina Stowes recorded a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds in UAB's 66-58 victory.

On Nov. 9, Jade Weathersby and Genevive Wedemeyer signed a National Letter of Intent to play with the Blazers.
UAB TO THE AAC
American Athletic Conference officials announced that Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, UTSA, Rice and Texas San Antonio will join UAB as new members in the AAC and compete against current AAC members East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, USF, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State. The move will be official on July 1, 2023.
