BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track and Field returns from the winter holiday with two home meets to spearhead their indoor schedule. The Blazers start the weekend of Jan. 13 with the Blazer Invite, starting at 10 a.m. at the Birmingham Crossplex. The following day, the Green and Gold return to action with the Vulcan Invite at the Crossplex, starting at 9:55 a.m.
"We are excited to host our annual indoor meet," said head coach Kurt Thomas. "It has always proven to be a great opening meet for so many teams. We expect our team to come out focused and to start the indoor season positively this weekend and build from there."
The Blazers finished the 2022 Blazer and Vulcan Invite with several PRs and first-place finishes from athletes. Performances include Shauntia Landrum's best performance in the triple jump with a distance of 12.14m.
In addition to Landrum's performance, Regina Harris finished with a top-ten performance in the 400m. UAB closed out the Vulcan Invite with seven top-ten finishes and eight top-ten finishes in the Blazer Invite.

QUOTES FROM KURT THOMAS
"There were many positives from the December meet. Trinity Fellows vaulted well and look stronger after the break, so hopefully, she can continue to improve in the pole vault. Lauren Charlton raced a great (first-ever indoor race) 3K and is fit to improve. The hurdlers and throwers looked solid, so we hope they come out in a similar fashion this weekend."
