UAB Travels to Louisville for Lenny Lyles Invite

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Track & Field team takes the trick from the Magic City to the Derby City, where they'll compete at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite hosted by the Louisville Cardinals.
The Blazers competed in the Samford Multi-Invite, finishing with several personal bests and etching new bests in the record books. Building off of previous performances, head coach Kurt Thomas is looking to improve further in the team's first road meet of the season.
"Lots of our field event and sprint and hurdle athletes had a weekend off from competing and just trained," said Thomas. "After the first competition, we can see some areas to work on, technique, speed, etc. So we went back to work to continue progressing on individual areas."
This will be the first large-scale meet on the Blazers' schedule, but they're no stranger to competing in meets of this caliber. "We've competed in larger, more competitive meets before. That's where we want to be, competing in important meets with high levels of competition. We'll lace up the spikes this weekend and let it rip against some of that bigger competition."
The Blazers will have another appearance in the pentathlon, with Megan Hamilton-Strong and Laney Kronz competing in their first pentathlon of the season. In addition to Hamilton-Strong and Kronz, distance runners Kathleen Schellman and Lauren Charlton join the rotation after successful performances at the Blazer/Vulcan Invites and Samford Invite.
