UAB Downs Alabama A&M on the Road

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – UAB men's basketball (5-5) had five players score in double figures en route to a 93-82 win on the road at Alabama A&M (1-9). Yaxel Lendeborg led the Blazers with 16 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, four steals and three blocks for his second-straight double-double.
Lendeborg paced the Blazers in the first half, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the first 20 minutes alone. However, UAB was unable to separate from the Bulldogs. The Blazers' largest lead in the first half was eight points.
The Bulldogs fought back late in the half to take the lead with 4:57 to go after knocking down a three. Alabama A&M hit another three in the final seconds of the half to go up by two but a foul at the buzzer gave Efrem "Butta" Johnson a pair of free throws to tie the game at 45 at the break.
UAB came out of halftime with some energy, going on a 14-3 run over the first 3:20 of the period. Javian Davis scored the first bucket of the half while Johnson and Eric Gaines knocked down threes on three-straight possessions.
The Blazers held a comfortable lead for the remainder of the game, stretching the lead to as many as 19 points. Christian Coleman was a spark for UAB's 11-0 run to stretch the lead to 19 at the 9:41 mark. He scored six points in less than a minute of game time.
Alabama A&M scored on its final five possessions to trim the advantage down to 11 for a final score of 93-82.
