UAB Men’s Soccer Hosts USF in Regular Season Finale

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's soccer is set to host South Florida on Friday, November 1 in a critical must-win matchup for the Blazers. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
UAB must win on Friday to have a chance to advance to the American Conference Tournament.
SERIES HISTORY
South Florida leads the all-time series over the Blazers, 12-5-1. UAB's last win in the series came during the 2004 season, when the Blazers beat the Bulls, 4-3.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BLAZERS
UAB picked up a key point in conference play in a 0-0 draw on the road at Charlotte. The 49ers were shown a red card in the 18th minute and the Blazers were able to hold them off for the remainder of the match.
SCOUTING THE BULLS
South Florida holds a 5-5-4 record on the year, but the Bulls have yet to win a match on the road. USF is led by senior forward Gunnar Studenhofft who has scored four goals and has two assists this season. Felix Schaefer has started all 14 matches in goal for the Bulls, allowing 1.50 GAA.
SOPHOMORE SENSATIONS
UAB Sophomores have scored 12 of the Blazers' 16 goals this season, led by Humphrey Doh, Tony Kim, and Lucas Rizzo with three goals each. Gui Gragnano has also added two goals while Isaac Calderon has one.
LILLY'S TURNAROUND
David Lilly took over the reins for UAB after the Blazers did not win a match during the 2023 season. So far this year, Lilly has helped UAB reach its highest win total since 2018, reach as high as 30 in the RPI, win its first conference match since 2021 and pick up a win over an ACC opponent for the first time since 2011. UAB's 16 goals are the program's most since 2019.
