Baseball Travels to #14 East Carolina

GREENVILLE, NC – The UAB baseball team will travel to Greenville, North Carolina to face the #14 team in all the land. The East Carolina Pirates lost a three-game series to UTSA last weekend. The Pirates actually outscored UTSA 21-20 in a very tightly contested series.
Common Opponents
Southeastern Louisiana is the only common opponent between the two teams. SLU beat ECU in a 11-9 contest where the pirates were down 7-2 at one point. UAB lost a series to SLU earlier this season after winning the first game.
Series History
UAB and East Carolina have played a total of 24 times, but not since 2013. UAB has lost the last eight games with the last win coming in 2011 when the Blazers took two out of three from ECU.
Scouting the Pirates
East Carolina comes into the second American Athletic Conference weekend with a 17-6 record. ECU has won five straight American Athletic Conference regular season titles. The Pirates have a series win against North Carolina and series sweeps over Liberty, Columbia, and Rider. ECU has six players hitting over .300 on the year, with Carter Cunningham leading the team at .419. Cunningham also leads the team with 28 RBIs. On the mound, Danny Beal has 14 appearances, which leads the team. He has a 3.48 ERA and 11 strikeouts.
Coach Dunn's Perspective
Coach Dunn talked about playing ECU tomorrow for a double header: "Tomorrow will be 18 tough innings. We will face a potential 1st rounder in game one and one of the better sophomores in the country in game two. Weekends like this is why our guys chose to come to UAB and why we chose to make the move to the AAC. I can't wait to watch our guys compete tomorrow". UAB will face RHP Trey Yesavage in game one and then LHP Zach Root in game two.

Because of Easter being on Sunday, the series will start on Friday with a double header. The first game Friday will start at 1 p.m. EST, with Sunday's action concluding the series at 12 p.m. EST.
