UAB Women’s Soccer Hosts No. 15/11 Memphis on Thursday Night

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's soccer team is back at home to host No. 15/11 Memphis at PNC Field on Thursday night at 7 p.m. CT. This is the first ranked opponent the Blazers have faced this season.

SERIES HISTORY
The match marks the 28th time the two teams have faced each other. The Tigers lead the series 17-9-1 with the last match taking place at the American Athletic Conference Tournament where Memphis won 2-1.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BLAZERS
UAB opened conference play at UTSA where the Blazers earned a 2-1 victory. Maia Sirota equalized the match at 1-1 off a free kick in the 57th minute. It marked her first collegiate goal. With five minutes left in the match, the Roadrunners were called for a handball, allowing UAB to take a penalty kick. Abbey Burns was called on and scored her fifth goal of the season to put the Blazers up 2-1.
Kendall Page played all 90 minutes at UTSA which got her over 4,000 career minutes at UAB (4,040 total minutes).
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis is coming off a 1-0 loss against Tennessee on Sept. 12. The Tigers had a match scheduled against UT Martin on Sept. 15 but was canceled due to weather. Memphis is 5-1-0 on the season are led by Ashley Henderson who has scored four goals this season. Ai Kitagawa has three goals with Anna Hauer and Momo Nakao with two goals apiece. Maddie Eskin, Alex Mackay and Izzy Monck each have one goal.
BREAKOUT CANDIDATES
Burns has been recognized with an AAC award by earning Honorable Mention (Sept. 26) for her efforts against Samford. Burns has registered five goals so far this season. Sydney Bolinger has netted two goals and Abby Graeser has one goal this year. Sirota recorded her first collegiate goal at UTSA and has tallied two assists so far, with her first to Graeser in the season opener win against ETSU and her second assist to Bolinger at Samford.
BRILLIANCE IN GOAL
So far this season, Toth has recorded three shutouts. Her first coming in UAB's home opener against ETSU (1-0), at home versus Ole Miss (1-0) and at Southern Miss (1-0). With the 1-0 win at Southern Miss, Toth recorded her 10th career shutout. Also at Southern Miss, Toth took a free kick and assisted Bolinger in scoring the goal to put the Blazers up. It was the first assist of her career, and she earned AAC Honorable Mention last week for her efforts.
