MEMPHIS - A late inning home run for the Tigers was enough to push Memphis (19-28, 7-14) past UAB (23-25, 7-14) by a score of 2-1.

Memphis jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the 1st. The Tigers got a leadoff double by Cade Greer. Three batters later, Seth Cox scored Greer on a sac fly to center to put the Tigers up 1-0.

The Blazers' lone run of the day came on a solo home run by Nick Hollifield to tie the game at one.

UAB starting pitcher Brendan Conner settled in after the first inning. In just his second career start, Conner tossed a career-high six innings, striking out five and allowed three hits and two walks.

Neither team scored again until the bottom of the 7th. With one out, Jack Pitts blasted a solo home run over the left field fence to put Memphis up 2-1.

The Green and Gold had an opportunity to tie the game in the top of 8th but the tying run was gunned down at home to keep the game at a 2-1 score.

Brayden Sanders picked up his second save in as many days by retiring the Blazers in order in the 9th inning. Caden Robinson earned the win after going three innings of shutout baseball and allowed just two hits.

Thomas Ballard was efficient coming out of the Blazer bullpen. The senior pitched two innings and struck out five and allowed just one hit which was the solo home run in the 7th. Ballard had a 70% strike percentage for the game.

NOTES

Todd Clay and John Paul Head each carry a 4-game hitting streak into next weekend.
Head, Camden Hayslip, and Alex Cheeseman have each reached base safely in six straight games.
Nick Hollifield hit his third home run in his last eight games with a solo home run in the 2nd inning.

UAB continues its 7-game road trip next weekend as the Blazers square off against the Charlotte 49ers in Charlotte. First pitch from Robert & Mariam Hayes Stadium will be on Friday at 6 pm ET on ESPN+.
