Men’s Basketball Road Streak Continues with Win at Temple

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The UAB Men's Basketball team (17-10, 8-6 American) Beat Temple (15-11, 7-6 American) 76-71 in a Wednesday night game in Pennsylvania. This was UAB's 8th straight road wins (seven in conference). The Pennsylvania native, Chance Westry took over the game late and scored 24 points with eight assists and three rebounds. Jacob Meyer also had a very impactful game scoring 18 points and grabbing six rebounds.
Temple shot 1-for-13 from three-point range, making that one three with 8:21on the clock in the second half. Jordan Mason (18), Derrian Ford (17), and Masiah Gilyard (10) all scored in double-digits for the Owls.

- UAB has now faced Temple three times in Philadelphia, holding a 2–1 record against the Owls.
- Jacob Meyer made his first appearance since Feb. 8 against Rice. He had a game-high of 10 points to lead all scorers at the half.
- Quaran McPherson scored 10 points which is his most in a game since Jan. 4 against South Florida when he had 17.
- UAB started with six different scorers finding the basket until Meyer made his second of the game at the 9:02 mark in the first half.
- There were just two combined turnovers in the first half. UAB also held Temple to zero made three-point field goals (0-for-7).
- UAB missed just one free throw in the first half after shooting 69.6% on the season.
- Dayjaun Anderson tied his career high with seven rebounds. He has had 5+ in three straight games.
- UAB was outrebounded for the 3rd time in four games 37-31.
- Temple dominated points in the paint 52-36. UAB held Temple to the lowest three-point % by opponent this season (6.7%) and the least number of threes made (1).
- Chance Westry scored 24 points which is the most he has scored since Jan. 4 against USF if he got 23.
- This was UAB's eight straight road win which breaks a program record and currently ranks 5th nationally.
- UAB shot 50% from the field (28-for-56), 31% from three (5-for-16), and 78.9% from the free-throw line (5-for-16).
- Temple started the game hot on a 8-3 run, including two blocks on the defensive end just three minutes into the game.
- UAB made just one of its first eight field goals coming from Evan Chatman who got fouled and completed the three-point play [3-8].
- A 6-0 Blazer run put UAB right back in the game down just one point [9-10].
- Evan Chatman hit a mid-range jumper to tie the game at 20 a piece with 8:25 to go in the half.
- The first lead of the game came at 7:42 when Jacob Meyer hit a corner three [23-22]. The run continued when UAB scored six more unanswered and an overall 14-2 run [34-24].
- Temple closed the half on a 9-5 scoring run. The first two turnovers of the game came in the final minutes of the first half leading to two of UAB's final five points.
- Temple saw five different scorers find the basket in the first four minutes of action in the second half, including two Durodola free throws [45-43].
- UAB held Tobiason in check all night until he scored his first points of the night after two free throws [49-47].
- Jordan Mason closed a Temple 5-0 run forcing UAB into their first timeout of the half with 10:08 to go in the game [55-56].
- Jordan Mason made Temple's first three of the game at the 8:15 mark [60-59].
- Heading into the under four timeout, Temple took over the ball with UAB leading 67-66.
- Two big stops from UAB and a couple of made free throws put UAB up six with 18 seconds left.
- Final score: UAB 76, Temple 71
