TAMPA, FL – UAB Baseball won its fourth consecutive series opening game as the Blazers (24-14, 9-4) took down South Florida (26-11, 6-7) on Friday night by a score of 8-4.

The Blazers jumped out front first with a single run in the top of the first. With two outs, the Bulls made a costly error in the outfield which brought Landon Beaver all the way around from first to give the Green and Gold a 1-0 lead.

UAB exploded for five runs in the top of the fourth inning. Andrew Hunt brought in the first two runs of the inning on a single up the middle to score Landon Beaver and Alex Dupuy. Three batters later, Baylor Roberts roped a single through the left side to bring home Hunt. The ensuing batter, Kevin Hall Jr. dribbled a ball in the infield for a single, but heads up base running scored Roberts from second to give the Blazers a 6-0 advantage through four innings.

USF would get on the board in the bottom of the sixth with a single run of its own. Three of the Bulls' first four hitters would reach on singles, with the third coming from Jevin Relaford to plate the Bulls' first run.

The Blazers would get that run back in the top of the seventh inning. John Paul Head brought around Baylor Roberts from second to put the Green and Gold back up six runs.

The Bulls plated two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Lance Trippel ripped a 2-run home run to left field for his second home run of the season to get South Florida within four through seven innings.

Chase Ingram played a major role in Friday's game. The senior right-hander tossed seven innings, tied for the most innings thrown by a Blazer starting pitcher this season. Ingram finished the night with a 67% strike percentage and earned his second win of the season.

USF would creep closer with another run in the bottom of the eighth. Jake Kulikowski slapped a double down the left field line to bring in Jalin Relaford from third to cut the UAB to 7-4 after eight innings of play.

The Blazers got a big insurance run in the top of the ninth. With Landon Beaver standing on first, Alex Dupuy executed a hit-and-run. Beaver never stopped running and the Bulls sailed a throw into foul territory to plate Beaver to give the Blazers a 4-run lead.

Brendan Conner closed out the game by throwing the final two innings on the mound. Connor struck out two in his 2.0 innings pitched.

NOTES
- Friday's game marked the second time this season the Blazers' pitching staff did not allow a walk.
- Kevin Hall Jr. picked up two hits which gives him 12 multi-hit games this season.
- Andrew Hunt recorded two hits of his own which gives him nine multi-hit games this season.
- The loss on Friday night was USF's fifth loss at home in 24 games this season.
- Chase Ingram reached career highs in innings pitched (7.0) and pitches (100).
- UAB has won six of its last seven Friday games, including each of the last four.

UAB and South Florida square off in the middle game of the three game series on Saturday. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
