UAB Travels to Tuscaloosa for Crimson Tide Invitational

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track & Field travels to Tuscaloosa on Saturday to compete in the Crimson Tide Invitational hosted by the University of Alabama.
The action begins late morning with the hammer throw at 11:00 a.m., followed by the discus at 2:00 p.m. and long jump at 3:30 p.m., giving the field athletes an early spotlight. The track heats up at 4:00pm with Taylor Washington in the 100m hurdles, while Hope Foster will be busy in the high jump at 4:15 p.m. and later return for the Javelin at 5:00 p.m.
Sprint relays and distance races are well represented, with the 4x100m relay kicking off at 4:20 p.m., followed by Ava Brooks and Kyra Hayes in the 3K steeplechase at 4:40 p.m. Madison Cameron and Mikayla Williams compete in the triple jump at 5:00 p.m., while Gabby Washington takes on the 400m shortly after at 5:05 p.m.
The pole vault at 5:30pm features all four Blazers including Fiona Eastman, Trinity Fellows, Victoria Freeland, and Noelle Hambrick. Sprint events continue with the 100m at 5:35 p.m. and 200m at 6:40 p.m., while middle-distance runners Emma Kate Alexander and Lia Castillo (800m at 5:55 p.m.) and Lidia Longo (1500m at 7:15pm) highlight the endurance side.
Later in the evening, Jasmine Dereje and Leticia Quingostas compete in the 400m hurdles at 6:15 p.m., while field events feature Laney Webb in the shot put at 7:45 p.m. The 5000m at 7:45 p.m. features Savannah Meyer, Kenlie Nelson, and Kaitlyn Wende competing under the lights.
The meet wraps up with the 4x400m relay at 8:25 p.m., where the Blazers will close out the day.
THIS TIME LAST YEAR
Hope Foster each jumped 1.60m in the High Jump. In the 400m race, Leticia Quingostas finished with a time of 56.09. That time was tied for the 10th best Outdoor 400m time in school history (Rachel Harley, 2009). Noelle Hambrick and Victoria Freeland each finished with a mark of 3.58m in the Pole Vault. Sangie Lincoln-Velez clocked a time of 4:33.12 in the 1500m which was her personal best. Lincoln-Velez just missed the 10th fastest Outdoor 1500m time in UAB history by less than one second. The Blazer 4x400 team of Leticia Quingostas, Jasmine Dereje, Nessa Duren, and Gabby Washington finished the race in 3:47.92.
