No. 6 LSU Defeats UAB Football, 41-10

BATON ROUGE, La. – The UAB football team sustained a 41-10 loss at No. 6 LSU on Saturday night at Tiger Stadium.
LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels accounted for two touchdowns as he threw for 297 yards and added 111 rushing yards to lead the Tigers (9-2) to victory.
DeWayne McBride moved into second place on UAB's single season rushing list and now has 1,441 yards, but the Tigers held McBride to a season-low 34 rushing yards. Dylan Hopkins finished the game 14-of-29 for 158 yards.
Jaylen Key had a career-high 12 tackles to lead UAB's defense, who also forced and recovered two fumbles on the evening.
LSU took an early 7-0 lead as the Tigers scored on their opening possession, however, the Blazers (5-6) responded right back with a touchdown on their opening drive.
Jermaine Brown Jr. got the Blazers started with a career-long 66-yard kickoff return, and McBride scored three plays later on a 5-yard rush for his 18th touchdown of the season to tie the game at 7-7 with 10:31 left in the opening quarter.
LSU then marched down the field on its second possession to take a 14-7 lead courtesy of a Noah Cain 5-yard rush with 9:19 left.
UAB once again answered back and took its second possession 63 yards in 11 plays and converted it into three points on the first play of the second quarter, bringing the score to 14-10.
LSU scored the next 14 points on a pair of 1-yard rushes by Cain to give the Tigers a 28-10 lead at halftime. Cain finished the game with three rushing touchdowns.
Jayden Daniels added a 2-yard rushing touchdown in the third and connected with Brian Thomas Jr. in the fourth for a final tally of 41-10.
The Blazers conclude the regular season next Saturday, Nov. 26 against Louisiana Tech in Ruston. It is a must-win for UAB to achieve bowl eligibility for a seventh-consecutive season.
