Brewer Leads UAB Past Middle Tennessee in Bartow Classic

BIRMINGHAM – Ty Brewer finished with a season-high 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead UAB men's basketball (18-8, 9-6 C-USA) past Middle Tennessee (15-11, 8-7 C-USA) in the Bartow Classic, 92-69. Jordan Walker scored a game-high 25 points, including 19 in the second half.

The Blazers dominated from start to finish led by Ty Brewer, who got started early with six points before the first media timeout. Leading 21-14 in the first half, the Blazers went on a 16-0 run to take a 23-point advantage. UAB led 47-22 at the break after holding the Blue Raiders to .280 (7-25) shooting and forcing 10 turnovers over the first 20 minutes.

Ty Brewer scored 11 consecutive UAB points to close the first half and open the second. He was all over the court for the Blazers, making an impact on the offensive and the defensive end.

Despite Middle Tennessee picking up the pace on the offensive end, the Blazers never let the margin go below 20 points. Jordan Walker found his shooting stroke in the second half, scoring 19 of his 25 points while shooting 5-for-9 from beyond the arc.

The Blazers led by as many as 30 points in the second half after a steal let to a Ty Brewer dunk, putting the score at 64-34.

UAB was able to run away with it, taking a 92-69 win in the Bartow Classic

NOTES

Ty Brewer led the way with his first double-double of the season and the 10th of his career.
His 24 points are a season-high and the most Brewer has scored in a game since December 30, 2020 against Western Carolina, when he also scored 24.
Brewer is shooting .700 (7-10) from three and .679 (19-28) from the field over the last four games.
Eric Gaines finished with his second double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and dishing out 10 assists.
Jordan Walker finished with 25 points on 8-of-17 shooting, including a 7-for-14 mark from three.
UAB leads the all-time series 18-10 against Middle Tennessee.
The Blazers shot .508 from the field, the team's highest mark since Nov. 26 vs. Rhodes.
UAB is 8-6 all-time in Bartow Classic games.
