16 Runs Pushes UAB Past Alabama A&M

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB baseball team won its midweek game against Alabama A&M in seven innings.
UAB had an abundance of scoring with six runs in the first inning. Most notably, Reed Latimer crushed a ball to left field for a grand slam. Latimer recorded his 11th RBI and 3rd home run of the year. Tyler Waugh and Logan Braunschweig both recorded RBIs in the 1st.
Colin Patterson and Tyler Haines pitched all seven innings with Patterson taking 4.0 innings. Patterson struck out six batters while allowing one run.
Alabama A&M came back in the 3rd inning and got on the board with a sacrifice fly. Also in the 3rd inning, UAB scored again with a Reed Latimer home run. LAtimer went two for four with five RBIs. The Blazers exploded in the 4th inning with seven runs. One of those runs was earned and the rest of them were unearned because of an Alabama A&M throwing error.
UAB scored two more runs in the 6th inning. This time it was an Alan Choo triple that scored Jox Yoxtheimer and Caden Long. Long recorded his first hit of the season.
UAB won 16-1 after seven innings.
Next Up
The Blazers travel to take on #14 East Carolina for a three game series starting Thursday.
