Blazer Track & Field Prepares for Tiger Track Classic

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track and Field Travels to Auburn, Alabama for the 2024 Tiger Track Classic hosted by Auburn University. The Blazers come off a light week at Troy with Aniyah Marshall setting a personal record in multiple events in the heptathlon, followed by a season-best from Trinity Fellows.
This week, the Blazers plan to bring multiple athletes to Hutsell-Rosen Track to compete. In distance, Anna Behmer, Lidia Longo, Lia Castillo, Ava Brooks, Katie Keur, and Kathleen Schellman will compete in the 1500 meter. Gracie Sears and Kyra Hayes will compete in the 3K steeplechase, where Sears finished top ten in the event.
In sprints, newcomers Gabby Washington and Hannah Smith will compete in the 200m, in addition to Taylor Washington, Alayah Dozier, Synai Jones, and Sydney Mitchell. In hurdles, Taylor Washington will run in the 100, in addition to Laney Bishop, Marshall, Mitchell, and Jones. Jasmine Dereje will compete in the 400 hurdles.
In field events, Nia Hill and Olivia Beard will compete in the high jump, with Hill setting a season-best in the South Florida Invitational. Trinity Fellows and Annika Huff will return to compete in Pole Vault for the Green and Gold as well.
In jumps, Loren Johnson is set to compete in both the long and triple jump. While in throws, Birthe Franck-Petersen, Tia Espinoza, and Zoe Winkenwerder will compete in discus, shot put, and hammer throw. Aniyah Marshall will return to compete in javelin after her PR performance at the Doc Anderson invite, along with Mya McDaniel who also set a personal best in the javelin at the Spring Invite.
