UAB Begins 7-Game Road Trip With Series at Memphis

MEMPHIS - UAB Baseball (23-22, 7-11) begins a 7-game road trip as the Blazers travel to Memphis for a 3-game series with the Tigers (16-28, 4-14) beginning on Friday.

The Blazers defeated Alabama State by way of a run-rule, 10-0. The Green and Gold outhit the Hornets 9-3 and drew 13 walks.
Last season, the Blazers took two out of three games against Memphis in Birmingham. Friday's game resulted in a run-rule win for the Blazers. Game two went UAB's way as Gavin Lewis Jr. blasted a walk-off 2-run home run to give the Blazers a 5-4 win in 10 innings.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis comes into the weekend 10th in the American Conference after dropping each of its last five contests. The Tigers were swept last weekend at UTSA and dropped the midweek game at Mississippi State. Memphis is hitting .239 as a team and has a team ERA of 5.49.
SERIES HISTORY
FedExPark will play host to the 91st, 92nd and 93rd all-time meetings between the two programs with the Tigers leading the series, 46-44.
CD WINS POTW FOR THIRD TIME IN 2025
For the third time in the 2025 season, UAB right-handed pitcher Colin Daniel has won American Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
The junior from Corner, Alabama tossed a complete game shutout on Friday night against Rice. Daniel struck out a career-high 13 batters, did not allow a walk or a run, and had a strike percentage of 73%. Daniel now ranks 3rd in the American Conference in Innings Pitched (68.2), 3rd in Walks Allowed (12), tied for 7th in Wins (5), 8th in ERA (3.80), and 8th in Strikeouts (62).
Daniel was also named National Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday by the College Baseball Foundation.
