BOCA RATON, Fla. – UAB women's basketball (9-14, 2-9 American) fell at Florida Atlantic (10-13, 4-7 American) 68-63 on Saturday afternoon at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.

The Blazers had four players score in double figures with Molly Moffitt leading UAB by scoring 12 points. Cali Smallwood registered 11 points while Eleecia Carter and Sofia Munoz each tallied 10 points.

Florida Atlantic was led by Erin Rodgers with 25 points and Vivian Onugha totaled 10 points.

Game Notes

Moffitt led the Blazers with 12 points on 6-for-11 shooting and five rebounds.
Jordan Rosier matched her season-high nine points and provided a spark off the bench.
Journey Armstead and Munoz led the Blazers with five assists and Armstead added seven points to the stat sheet.
UAB scored 24 points in the paint and 18 bench points.
The Blazers shot 48 percent from the field, 30 percent from the perimeter and 82 percent at the line.
FAU shot 46 percent from the field, 30 percent from three and 50 percent from the free throw line.
UAB finished with 15 assists on 24 made field goals.

How It Happened

Both teams started the game trading baskets, and the score was tied with over six minutes left in the frame [4-4].
Florida Atlantic used a 9-0 run to makes its lead nine late in the first [13-4].
The Blazers were fouled and closed the frame making two free throws before the Owls made layup [15-6].
UAB came out in the second strong, with Moffitt and Munoz scoring in the paint and Carter from the perimeter to cut into the lead [19-13].
FAU was able to extend the lead off turnovers [27-15].
With less than a minute left, the Owls made a three to lead by 13 [33-20].
The Blazers were able to answer back with a layup from Ashlyn Howard and a jumper at the buzzer from Munoz [33-24].
Florida Atlantic opened the third scoring on three straight possessions [40-24].
UAB settled in and answered behind strong shooting from Monae' Duffy, Carter and Munoz [44-30].
Rosier converted at the free throw line during a key stretch [46-36].
UAB outscored FAU 21-20 in the quarter to trim the deficit [53-45].
The Blazers continued to chip away, including a fast-break three from Rosier to open the quarter [53-48].
The Green and Gold cut the lead to single digits multiple times down the stretch [64-62].
Florida Atlantic made a timely free throw to maintain separation [67-63].
UAB closed strong but ran out of time and FAU earned the win [68-63].
